Аmelia Earhart was an American pioneer of aviation and a fighter for women's rights. Shortly before her 40th birthday, she embarked on an adventure that no one had ever tried before - she set off on a flight around the world. However, she disappeared over the Pacific on July 2, 1937. That event is thought to be one of the greatest mysteries of the twentieth century. Amelia became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, first as a passenger in 1928, and four years later she flew solo. In 1935, Earhart set three impressive records. She flew solo from Honolulu, Hawaii to Oakland, California. Then she flew 3,860 km, in 18 hours and 16 minutes. She was the first person to do it alone. Then she flew from Los Angeles to Mexico City, and in less than a month, she flew from Mexico City to Newark (New Jersey). None of these flights had never been soloed before, by a man or a woman. She also wanted to show that aviation does not belong only to men, that women are equal and can exist just like members of the stronger sex.

Louis Bleriot was a French pilot and aircraft designer. His beginnings in aviation were not successful. He built a whole series of aircraft with flapping wings, but only in the period 1900 - 1903 he managed to make a somewise successful model. After that period, he mainly built monoplanes. His 1906 type has a three-cylinder engine. Bleriot is best known for the first successful crossing of the English Channel in 1909 between Calais and Dover. The distance covered was about 40 kilometers, the flight time was 37 minutes, and the flight height was between 50 and 100 meters. In the First World War, his models were very important in the French Air Force, and they were sold to other countries as well. Until the end of his life, Bleriot contributed significantly to the development of aviation and was the first holder of a pilot's diploma of the International Aviation Federation (FAI).
