For this edition of Flora, four species have been selected, which are on the Proposal of the Decree on strictly protected and protected species of the Republic of Srpska. For the first time, the Republic of Srpska is passing a decree like this, the publication of which is expected every day. In anticipation of the mentioned document, we have chosen extremely decorative species that are endangered, among other things, precisely because of their beauty.

Fritillaria montana (Fritillaria montana Hoppe ex W.D.J.Koch) is a perennial plant of the lily family. It has a small white, round bulb. The stem is erect, 25 to 30 cm high, in the lower part without leaves. The leaves are few, narrow, 3 to 6 cm long. The flowers are solitary, bell-shaped and pendulous. It mainly grows on grassy areas in the hilly and subalpine region.

It inhabits Southern Europe, and in our country it is mentioned in a small number of localities.

This is one of the species covered by the Bern Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife. The species are in the category of strictly protected species on the Proposal of the Decree on strictly protected and protected species of the Republic of Srpska.

Capljan (Asphodelusalbus Mill.) is a perennial plant from the Cepljezovka family. It has a thick rhizome. The roots are developed in bundles. The stem is 50 to 120 cm high, without leaves. The leaves are ground, narrow, long and over 60 cm, basically dilated, while ending in a spike. At the top of the stem is a clustered unbranched inflorescence with numerous white flowers.

In addition to being decorative, this species, ie its rhizome, is used in the diet.

The species inhabits hilly, mountainous and subalpine meadows and pastures. It is distributed mainly in the Southern and Southern part of Central Europe. In our country, it is known from a large number of mountains in the mountain belt.

It is protected in Croatia, and in our country it is in the category of protected species on the Proposal of the Decree on strictly protected and protected species of the Republic of Srpska.
