Nature Park "Cicelj" is located in the eastern part of the Republic of Srpska. The area lies directly next to the town of Cajnice, east and south of it. It is mostly on the northern sides of the Kovac massif. The status of the nature park this area has since 2018. The first legal protection of the area of Cicelj dates back to 1969, when the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina placed this area under protection.
The preserved natural area, with exceptional floral diversity and the richness of primeval landscapes spread over a rich network of geomorphology and hydrology, are the main features of the area of Cicelj, which definitely place it in the area of very attractive for scientific research, sports, recreation and tourism.
The most important floristic diversity is in the Nature Park. Here, as many as 43 taxons of regional or globally rare vascular flora, which deserve special attention.
The Drina National Park is located in the middle course of the Drina River, i.e. in the eastern part of the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the territory of the Municipality of Srebrenica. The National Park "Drina" has numerous habitats of endemic and relict plant species.
According to its dimensions and the specific direction of providing the ravine-canyon valley, the Drina is unique and as such is one of the most important river valleys in the Republic of Srpska, but also in the entire belt of Dinarides. It has features of canyons with steep, vertical sides in some places. The most significant is at the mouth of the Black Stream where the maximum depth of the canyon is 976 meters. Very important is the gigantic-canyon valley of the Black Stream, whose source is over 1100 meters above sea level and after only 6 kilometers of flow to the mouth of the Drina, the fall of more than 800 meters decreases.
The presence of Panciceva omorika (Picea omorika), which is an endemic and tertiary relict species, contributes to the exceptional value of the area.
Exceptional flora diversity is seen in the presence of about 635 vascular flora taxons.
Also, the diversity of fauna in the area of the National Park "Drina" is extremely valuable. Particularly important species are the brown bear (Ursus arctos), the chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) and the golden eagle (Aquilachrysaetos).
