ZP "Elektrokrajina" ad Banja Luka was established on 22 April 1947 under the name "Elektricno preduzece" Banja Luka, which has started intensive electrification of Banja Luka and the surrounding areas.

The company has been operating under its current name since 1963 unification of four regional electricity companies from Banja Luka, Prijedor, Jajce and Bugojno. A milestone of progress was the year 1972 when "Elektrokrajina" opted for a three-voltage concept of development, making it a pioneer among electric utility companies of socialist Yugoslavia.

 "Elektrokrajina" now operates as a joint stock company in the context of mixed holding "Elektroprivreda of the Republic of Srpska" ad Trebinje, owned by the Republic of Srpska. The principal activities of the company are distribution and supply of electricity, and is engaged in activities of design, construction and maintenance of power facilities. 

 "Elektrokrajina" is the largest power company in the Republic of Srpska, which supplies electricity for more than 250,000 customers in two cities and 19 municipalities, or almost half of consumers in the Republic of Srpska. Organizationally operates through a network of 10 business units and Directorate in Banjaluka that integrates all the usual functions.

The company has grown into a modern business system, contributing to the distribution network and meeting the needs of customers and continuous improvement of business and financial results. Every year the company realizes multimillion investments, primarily in the rehabilitation and construction of the distribution network, as well as the reconstruction of working machinery and construction of commercial buildings.

As a socially responsible and socially sensitive company, through various forms of sponsorship and donations, "Elektrokrajina" constantly supports socially beneficial projects and strengthen corporate reputation.
