Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, born in 1799 in Moscow, is considered one of the most important and influential Russian poets and writers. His work shaped Russian literature and laid the foundations for modern prose and poetry. He came from an aristocratic family, and his ancestor was of African origin, which further enriched his identity.
His first significant poetic works were published when he was only twenty years old. His style combines folk motifs with classical elements, creating a unique poetics that reflected Russian culture and spirituality. Pushkin quickly drifted into liberal political waters, and because of his revolutionary poems, he was sent into exile in southern Russia (officially, he was only transferred on duty), where he remained from 1820 to 1823. After that, he spent a year in Odessa, where his social life flourished.
One of the most significant works in Pushkin's career is the verse novel "Eugene Onegin", which depicts the life of the Russian nobility and explores the themes of love, passion, loss and fate. Pushkin was also an outstanding dramatist. His play "Boris Godunov" places him in the place of one of the great playwrights in the Russian tradition. In addition, prose narratives such as "The Captain's Daughter" and "The Queen of Spades" demonstrate his ability to explore complex human emotions and moral dilemmas.
Alexander Pushkin's life was marked by passionate and often tragic events. He married Natalia Goncharova, but their marriage was full of jealousy and scandals. In 1837, Pushkin challenged his wife's alleged lover to a duel, and his life ended tragically with mortal wounds. This event also marked the end of one of the most fruitful periods in Russian literature.
Pushkin's legacy is priceless. He is considered the father of modern Russian literature, and his work continues to inspire generations of writers around the world. His ability to deeply understand human nature and to depict complex emotional landscapes makes him an eternal classic, whose words will be read in the future.
