Song birds

Siskin

Siskin (Carduelis carduelis) grows up to 12 cm, it is resident bird, male and female are no different. These are our most numerous and most beloved birds. They live in all parts of our country, especially where there are villages and people. Autumn and winter he spends in a large flocks. Among other finches its appearance is noticeable. Breasts are light brown, wings and tail black with white spots on the ends, and the head is surrounded by garlands vibrant white, red and black. Male and female are always together, the greater the love of other birds are hard to come, starting in the early spring nesting and two to three times a year. Nests are placed on low trees and fruits. It feeds on various seeds especially rich in oil.


Lark

Skylark (Alauda arvensis) grows up to 18 cm, it is visitant, in our region from March to October. Male unlike females have larger wings. For now it is still a common bird, but is at the stage of slow disappearance due to habitat destruction. These birds usually live in the country, move on her and feed. According to certain parts of the body (like the legs) are different from other singers. Feathers are gray brown, has stripes on the upper parts of the chest and white belly. Most live in groups or individually, or in close proximity to each other. The food is varied, grasshoppers, butterflies, insects and the like, and in winter a variety of seeds. It nests twice a year and make nests in hollows in the ground, grass and stems of other plants. The song of skylark is varied and rich, lasts from two to three minutes, but as we approach the end of the hatching season, the song is extended.

Blackbird  

Blackbird (Turdus merula) has a length of 25 cm, migratory, male differs from the female by color. The male is black while his beak and edges of the eyelids yellow. The female is brown with several small rusty spots on the chest. It inhabits all of our regions, from urban parks to mountain areas. The song of blackbird is very melodic and it predominantly silent and melancholic melodies. In our people there is a belief that this song has to do with Kosovo and fight apparently Kosovo and was named after the bird. Blackbird annually lie on eggs three times, a real nest on the ground or high above it. Female lies on the eggs in the morning, afternoon and male and female while lying on eggs male usually sings. It feeds on a variety of worms, insects and snails, and loves a various fruits and berries.

Nightingale

Plain nightingale (Luscinia) grows to 16.5 cm, it is visitant, the male and the female look the same. For now it is still a common bird. Homeland of nightingale is Western Europe, and in the fall he moves to Central and West Africa. In April, as soon as you move the vegetation returns home at night and traveling alone. Males comes first and then females. Old nightingales are still returning to their bushes and young people near his birthplace. He sings from early May until the first half of July. The song of the nightingale is the most beautiful song you can hear in the bird world, it is indescribable music full of colorful tones, sounds and melodies. Delicate melodies mixed with the ringing sounds of joy to be passed into melancholy melodies and silent mourning. They nest on the ground or above it, usually in dense bushes of hawthorn, oak and hazel. While female broods, male sings and signals danger. They feed on worms, grasshoppers and other insects.
