The Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP) or International Federation of Philately, is the world’s umbrella organization bringing together national philatelic federations and representing one of the most important institutions for the development and promotion of philately. FIP was founded in Paris on 18 June 1926, when representatives of European philatelic federations initiated the creation of an international organization dedicated to connecting philatelists around the world.

The main objectives of FIP are to promote stamp collecting and philately, develop friendly relations among philatelists from different countries, foster cooperation with postal administrations and the philatelic trade, and promote and support international philatelic exhibitions. Today, FIP brings together more than 90 national member federations and three associated continental federations, making it a global network of philatelic organizations.

FIP plays a particularly important role in organizing and supporting international philatelic exhibitions. Through the granting of patronage and recognition, FIP helps ensure international standards for exhibition organization, judging and participation. Also establishes regulations and guidelines for various philatelic disciplines, including Traditional Philately, Postal History, Thematic Philately, Аerophilately, Astrophilately, Maximaphily, Open Philately and Modern Philately.

In 2026, FIP celebrates its 100th anniversary, marking a century of contribution to the preservation of philatelic heritage, international cooperation and the development of philately as a cultural and historical discipline.

With this issue, Poste Srpske also join in the celebration of this anniversary.
